24/11/2003 Informative Statement
23-24 November 2003 the meeting of representatives of oppositional organizations of Turkmenistan has taken place in Vienna (Austria): Public Political Movement “Vatan”, People Democratic Movement of Turkmenistan, United Democratic Opposition of Turkmenistan, Republican Party of Turkmenistan in exile.
In accordance with agreements, reached during the Prague Conference of oppositional forces, September 2003, Public-political Movement “Vatan”, United Democratic Opposition of Turkmenistan and Republican Party of Turkmenistan in exile endorsed the Charter on Union of Representatives of Founder Organizations.
The Council of Representatives of Founder Organizations has been established as a governing body of the Union of Representatives of Founder Organizations, decisions of which will be taken by consensus.
Council of Representatives of Founder Organizations has taken decisions on a short-term plan of events to fulfill the program aims of the Union, on the composition of the Working Group to prepare a draft of concept of the new Constitution of Turkmenistan, on the new Coordinator of the Union of Democratic Forces of Turkmenistan to organize the current activity.
Mutual understanding has been reached on the main moments of the concept of actions of the Union of Democratic Forces of Turkmenistan in the transition post-Niazov period.
Participants of the Vienna meeting adopted an Appeal to the People of Turkmenistan and international community.
